FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What’s the difference between a doula and Dr. Schell?
A doula typically has no formal obstetrical training and serves as a support person for a pregnant/postpartum woman. I, on the other hand, am a physician with over 10yrs of experience as an OBGYN. I’m your safe haven of support and knowledge in one. I’m also a mother of 3 who is passionate about helping you because I went through the ringer when I was postpartum. I’ll never force or guilt you into breastfeeding. I will
Offer you options as soon as you ask. You’re the boss and I’m your guide. I will answer all your questions and guide you with empathy and some humor if you are into that.

When should I buy the services?
Now! Trust me, you will not regret my assistance during your pregnancy and/or postpartum. You don’t know how much you need me until you use my services. That’s what my clients say. I’d rather we start when you are in your third trimester because breastfeeding with colostrum at the hospital isn’t the same as when you come home.

Can I ask you for medical advice?
No. That’s what the on call doctor from your OB practice is for. You can ask me if I experienced certain things or saw them in my practice and I’m happy to share. While I won’t treat or advice you on any medical conditions since we do NOT have a patient Doctor relationship, I’m well trained to recognize when someone needs to call their doctor or go into the hospital.

What’s Dr. Schell’s favorite package?
The Bombschell! How awesome is it to have someone guide you from your third trimester all the way until baby is 3 months old! And leave you with a great routine and a baby that sleeps through the night!

What’s Dr. Schell’s favorite package to gift to a loved one?It would have to be a month of The Buzz or the One visit with two 15m calls. These are great for first timers and veteran moms. The recipient can always upgrade.

What if I can’t start the Concierge Postpartum Care membership before I deliver?
You can still use that visit whenever you start the package.

What if I deliver before my due date?
Your package still ends 6 weeks after your due date (when you would’ve been 40wks) which means more support.

What if I deliver after my due date?
Normally, you won’t go past 41wks and the package would still last for 5wks after your delivery. Usually clients are good to go by then. You know you can ask me and we can decide if you need an extra week on a case by case basis.

Does your sleep training work for twins?
Absolutely!

Can you sleep train my toddler?
Unfortunately, no.

What do I do if there’s a medical emergency?
Call 9-1-1

Can I give away my unused virtual or in person visit to a friend?
You WILL use them but….you may transfer a visit to a friend if the package has expired and it’s been less than 6 months ago for a fee of $95. This means the visits are non-transferable if the package is active.

Can my friend use one of my weekly calls?
No, but you may gift her a month of The Buzz and I’m sure she will love it.

Do I need to let my baby cry it out during your Early Sleep Training program?
Absolutely not.

Until when will your sleep training help me?
For the baby’s life because you started off with consistency in your routine. You will have a baby sleeping 10-12h at night and taking 3 naps a day when we are done. After that, you transition the baby at 10-13months to two naps a day.

Can I get a refund?
Only with a letter from your OB if there’s a medical reason like loss of a pregnancy. Sleep training packages help you establish a routine that I’ve proven to work for my past clients. This means I’m unable to offer a refund if for some reason this routine isn’t followed.
